JE67 American Dream

            The American dream before was the pursue of freedom, equality, and mainly job opportunities. Many people immigrated to the United States in the 1800s because they believed they would have a great chance of earning more money than they did before. Especially during the Gold Rush, a huge amount of people came to California, having the same dream of becoming a millionaire. In the 20^th century, however, the American dreams have crushed because of poverty, diseases, and unemployment. People just wanted to find a shelter for their families and hoped to earn enough money to survive. The modernism presented lots of ideas about the reality, such as economic breakdown, food shortage, and political ideas.  

Dream, is a state of mind that people hopes to match with reality. Therefore, although the situation might be the opposite, people still had the hope inside their hearts. Even though people living in the 20^th century might face a difficult condition in terms of living, freedom, and economy, they still have the hope of getting a better live. Now, United States is still one of the most powerful countries in the world. People’s American dream now, besides business and new technologies, might be the pursue of education in America.
