Back in the 30s, when the most
advanced technology was radio, people tend to have less media type
entertainment. People back then usually go out to exercise or do sports as
leisure. Now, in 2012, the technology is so advanced that we literary have
countless forms of entertainment. Our smartphones would just notify us every 5
seconds for an update on Facebook or time to collect money for Snoopy’s Fair.
When we want to listen to music or watch videos, we simply go on YouTube. When
we want to chat with someone, face to face, we skype. When we want to stalk
people online, we Facebook. Yet did I mention video games, online games, and
cellphone games that entertain us. I think people now rarely listen to radio,
simply because the quality is not good enough and the newest singles are always
leaked online before it is sent to the radio station. Radio shows are replaced
by TV shows too.
Entertainment was simply a leisure
activity that people do before 21st century. Now, entertainment
actually occupied our lives. Eight years ago, I remember my parents were still
using Motorola, a camera with no screen, Windows 95, and an old, fat TV. I
remember having a Gameboy was considered the best entertainment you could have.
Now, everything is on a phone, with the best quality and the most advanced
operative system. I think technology has a direct relationship with
entertainment. The improvement of technology and entertainment can bring
positive effects into our lives, however, not everyone is able to use it
appropriately. Many people were distracted or even trapped in their own world.
In my opinion, Facebook has taken away our real social life. I think the most
important issue is to find the balance between entertainment and reality.
